Preparation tips:
This is really a cook's menu, because everything can be prepared in advance so the cook doesn't have to spend time in the kitchen once the meal starts. I suggest preparing the cake in the morning and then the while the Chicken is in the oven you can prepare the salad.
Wine Ideas:
Being a simple menu I'd suggest a Dolcetto d'Alba with the chicken and then a Moscato d'Asti with the cake.
Serving notes:
This dinner is fairly straight forward. I'd serve the chicken and potatoes first and then the salad with some fresh bread after.
