Cantaloupe with ham

This is the appetizer of all appetizers.

Ingredients:

1 cantaloupe
6 oz. prosciutto crudo (cured ham)


Instructions:

1. Clean the cantaloupe and slice it lengthwise into 8 pieces then remove the skin.
2. Place the pieces of cantaloupe on a serving dish and the slices of ham on an other.
3. Put the cantaloupe and ham in the refrigerator to chill it before serving.
4. Serve two slices of ham with each slice of cantaloupe.

Notes:

This appetizer can be found anywhere in Italy. The secret is in the quality of the cured ham, assuming of course that you have a good cantaloupe. When you find a butcher or a specialty food store that has it, you have to make sure that it is cut in very thin slices or it won't taste right.
