Piselli e prosciutto

Peas and ham

Piselli al prosciutto, a simple recipe that I make often.

Ingredients:

1 lb. fresh or frozen baby peas
1/2 small onion, red or white
2 thin slices of ham
1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
Instructions:

1. Heat a skillet with the oil when it is hot add the finely chopped onion.
2. Sauté them until they become translucent.
3. Add the peas still frozen and the salt. Mix well and cook at a low heat for about 15 minutes.
4. Dice the ham, add it to the peas and cook for another 5 minutes. If they get too dry just add a little water.

Notes:

These can be served as a side dish or togetehr with mashed potatoes.
